With the richest flavors, Asian foods are known for their incredible seasoning and taste. While ginger, garlic, and chilies are quite common in several Asian cultures, the deep-frying cooking method remains a popular cuisine choice. Rice is another staple food item, a go-to ingredient for many dishes in Asian cuisines. How it's used may vary from culture to culture.

Not a rice enthusiast? Why not try some curry recipes for a change? Find a range of delectable dishes like our grilled spicy pork at Pangaea Grill. Our Korean restaurant in Carmel, CA, prepares delicious Asian fusion cuisines in California.

Here are more fun facts about Asian foods.

WHEAT WHAT?

While rice and noodles are staple foods and are often eaten with every meal, wheat is hardly consumed in Asian foods. Areas in southern China aren't familiar with many wheat dishes. The wheat ratio will increase as you travel to the South Asian regions of Nepal and India.

BRING ON THE BANCHAN

You must have noticed a cluster of side dishes on Korean dinner tables. Banchan are sided dishes Koreans preferably have before their main course. Some banchan dishes include scallion pancakes, fermented cabbages, and a soy-sauce banchan called jorim.

NAMA TAMAGO

Considered a dish only characteristic of Japanese cuisine, the Nama Tamago, or the raw egg, is a peculiar food item in Japanese cuisine. An uncooked egg is eaten with soy sauce and tastes quite well. Most of these food items are super hygienic, with the protective germ barrier thoroughly removed.

AN ABUNDANCE OF KIMCHIS

Known as a traditional Korean dish, kimchi has around 180 varieties. A blend of fermented cabbage and other different vegetables, the kimchi has a delicious spicy and sour flavor. The dish allows so much room to experiment with different vegetables and yield different tastes.

Try our incredible Kimchee Tofu Soup at Pangaea Grill, CA. Ours is a known Asian food restaurant in Carmel. Our lunch menu is equally tempting! Reserve a table for top-class salads and sizzling steaks.

CHOPSTICKS

Known as one of the oldest utensils in the world, chopsticks continue to exist even after 3,000 years. First originated in China, the chopstick has tons of folklore associated with it. Eating with a chopstick is said to involve around 50 muscles, including those of the hand, face, and neck.
